1) Quantify everything:-
- Wht result
- By whom ?
- By when ?
- At wht cost ?
- How will we measure it ?
- How will we know when we have accomplished it ?
- When and to whom is the accountability both in terms of benchmarks and end results ?
-Set clear expectations
-use physical presence
-be an obvious presence in the company
-dont communicate UR ownership of an idea too early into the problem solving session -check up on URself periodically -decide n plan 4 -5 things you want done
- ask UR key people key Qs to help keep them on target
2) Look at 3 variables
- Quality, speed, and cost- usually you pick two
- if you want Quality and fast, its usually going to cost you more.
- If you want Quality product and a low cost, its likely to take longer
Give realistic delivery date instead of giving them false promise of what they want to hear
- its better to do it upfront than to disappoint
Check for clarity
Ask Qs :
- wht hv you understand fr this conversation ?
- As a result of our interaction, wht do u see as ur next steps ?
- Wht do u see as my roles ?
- Do u feel that others are clear regarding expectations ?
- Wht can we do to make things more clear ?
This is my understanding of wht u expect and wht I can do.
Do u see it differently ?
Expectations
- Disclose and reveal expectations. -Discuss them, Validate them.
- Renegotiate them if needed and possible.
- Don't violate expectations.
- Dont assume that expectations are clear or shared.
